How the Center is Planning to Achieve its Objectives:

1. The Farmingdale Solar Energy Center staff will develop plans for maintenance of the existing PV system and any other systems installed in the future.

2. The Center will conduct tours at frequent intervals based on requests from public, solar energy companies and others.

3. The Center is developing several continuing education workshops titled:

  • Installation of grid connected PV systems
  • Installation of solar thermal systems
  • Principles and application of photovoltaics
  • Introduction to photovoltaic system design

4. The federal government through the Dept. of Energy is releasing grant money for Million Solar Roofs initiative and such other projects. Many of these grants require joint submission by companies and educational institutions or research institutions. Farmingdale State University  is planning to undertake joint proposals which are suitable to its mission.

5. Many companies (solar energy and others) may want to undertake short studies on projects or problems they have come across. The Center seeks such opportunities to be offered as projects to students and faculty and expeditiously provide results of studies to companies. This would enhance educational experience of students and off line research for the industry.
