For planning purposes, use 6 ft² locker room and shower area for each employee who are exposed to excessive heat, toxic substances, irritating materials that require employees to change clothes or use personal protective equipment (PPE). Use only the number of employees per shift.

For industrial warehouses, workshops, foundries and similar establishments, use 1 shower for each 15 persons exposed to excessive heat or skin contamination with poisonous, infectious, or irritating materials.

Staggered shift can reduce congestion in the locker room and reduces the shower space requirement.
