Stephen V. Campbell, Lecturer and Chief Pilot
- Professor
Campbell began his career at Farmingdale in 1997, serving as both manager and Chief Pilot
overseeing the Aviation Flight Center, its flight instructors, mechanics and other
personnel.
- Professor
Campbell established an FAA FAR 141 Flight School in 1999 and obtained Self Examining
status for the college in 2004. Under
Professor Campbells guidance the Flight Center has had a 100% safety record which
still stands to this day.
- Professor
Campbell began flying in 1973 and possesses Air Transport Pilot (ATP), Certified Flight
Instructor (CFI-MEI), Airplane Ground Instructor Basic, Advanced and Instrument
certificates along with Gold Seal Instructor certificate and ratings.
- Professor
Campbell was designated, by the FAA, to serve as an FAA Pilot Examiner (DPE) authorized to
administer flight tests for Private, Instrument, Commercial and Multi Engine students,
both under FAR 61 and FAR 141. He was
reappointed to serve for 2007 2008.
- Professor
Campbell was appointed as an FAA Safety Team Representative volunteer and currently
participates in FAA Safety Seminars throughout the metropolitan area.
- Flight times
include 10,000 hours with no accidents or incidents.
- Academic
degrees and certificates include: AAS-Business Administration SUNY, Farmingdale,
BS-Marketing and Economics, SUNY, Plattsburgh, MALS-Education, SUNY, Stony Brook and New
York State Teacher Certification Business and Aerospace.
- Professor Campbell
has trained and endorsed many Pro-Pilot Farmingdale students personally, professes safety
and quality of training above all else.
- Professor
Campbell currently lectures Pro-Pilot and Aviation Administration majors in various
aviation subjects for the Aviation Department and School of Engineering Technology.
- In addition to
college responsibilities, Professor Campbell spends time with family and also enjoys
charter and sport flying, sailing, tennis and other assorted sports.
